Smart Way Of Self Packing

‘Smartness’ in packaging is a extensive term that covers a number of functionalities, depending on the product being packaged, including food, drink, pharmaceutical, household products etc. Examples of current and future functional ‘smartness’ would be in packages that raise product attributes (e.g. look, taste, flavour, aroma etc).

Some smart packaging already exists commercially and many other active and well-informed packaging methods are under development. A good example of smart packaging is the highly successful foam-producing ‘convenience’ in a metal can of beer.

Before you pack even one box, create a simple record keeping system. Keep the list in a special space so you know that you will not lose it. You can even play it safe by making multiple copies.

What if packaging could do more than simply contain things? What if it could play an active role in collecting a record of events that could be stored for reporting purpose, in authenticating that a drug is not a imitative, in letting the consumer actively participate in the brand authentication process, in cooling or heating a product?

Packing TipsMaterial you will need

Wrapping Paper: You will need plenty of wrapping papers, so save old newspapers. But keep in mind, however, that the ink on some newsprint never thoroughly dries. Consequently, the goods you wrap in newspapers are most likely going to be soiled and will require cleaning after unpacking.

There are following type of Wraps given below:

Bubble Wrap:
Use bunched up clean paper or bubble wrap to pack your fragile. Bunched up paper is considered the best of all wrappings for cushioning as opposed to hard to handle peanuts that can shift around in the box or bubble wrap that loses its cushioning power if some of the bubbles break.
Plastic Wrap:
Plastic wrap is great for keeping lids on things or keeping furniture drawers or doors shut without using tape and leaving its hard to remove residue on the finish.
File Cabinets and big plastic storage bins are good candidates for the Packing.

Cartons: You will need many cartons in of different sizes. All boxes should be in good condition and must have covers on them so that they can be closed and sealed. You can purchase cartons from you movers. You can start collecting cartons from your local grocery shop and liquor stores. All too often grocery cartons have the tops removed, but if you program in advance, may get cartons with covers. Liquor cartons are excellent, as they are sturdy and contain covers and dividers, ideal to pack goblets, vases and glasses.

Sealing/Packer’s Tape: Always tape bottoms and tops with at least three strips of tape and at least halfway up or down the sides of the box for strength. Remember that taping reinforces the strength of the box, and yet can be easily cut with a blade later when unpacking. So use plenty of tape to secure your boxes. Your rolls of tape should be at least 2 inches wide.

Marker: This is for marking your packed cartons with such information as the contents of box and "Fragile ".

How to PackHow to Pack

Furniture: Though your furniture may be child's play for us, we still display a parental approach in the handling of your precious furniture. Cover with and a rope securely. Tie Furniture items with blanket or furniture pads than cover with tape or rope .

Cups and Glasses: Cover larger pieces with cardboard, tape securely and stand them along the truck's sides or inside wardrobe boxes. Computers, TVs, and Electronics, use original packaging to pack.

Books and Records: Stand or end. Use small cartons.

Clothing: Pack hanging items, including drapes, in wardrobe boxes. Leave small items in drawers.

Kitchenware: Stack pots & pans, and cushion with paper. Put a few of these items in the "open first" box.

Canister sets: Contents may be left in canister sets. Again, it's a good idea to seal them with tape. Each canister should be individually wrapped with packing paper.

Spices: Okay to pack and ship. Make sure all cans are closed and won't leak. If in doubt, seal them with tape.

Boxed Foods (cereals, etc.): Seal with your plastic tape those boxes which have been opened. No need to wrap such items in packing paper.
Note: If your shipment is going into storage then you should dispose of boxed foods. These items can attract rodents and insects.

Packing Pots and Pans: Pick in a medium sized carton.

Packing small Kitchen Appliances: It's best to pack your small kitchen appliances (blender, toaster, can opener, coffee maker, etc.) together in one or two boxes (or more, as necessary) rather than in other boxes with other goods. Later, when unpacking, you will find this much more convenient.
